Aspen Ridge Kennels breeding program to a "small speciality store".
We are
specializing in the breeding of fine quality bird dogs for the foot hunter, that make wonderful additions to your family.
Not wonderful family members that may make a nice hunting dog.
We are dedicated in the breeding of only dogs, that we have take the time to evaluate in
both hunting and training scenario's. The following criteria must be met:
- Desire - they must prove their hunting ability on "Wild" birds, not just
in a training scenario. They also must have a minimum of 1 season of hunting.
- Biddable and have the temperament
to be a welcome family member.
- Meets Braque du Bourbonnais Standards
- Pass a NAVHDA Natural Ability Test (if birth date allows)
If
we use and "outside" Sire or Dam we apply the same criteria in their evaluation, including hunting behind them.
Aspen Ridge will only place puppies in a loving
and caring home we take this job VERY
seriously, we will ask you questions of you when you reserve your new member of your family:
- Are you going to hunt your puppy? If so what kind of hunting
and in what conditions?
- Or are you simply looking for a home companion?
Each litter that Aspen Ridge Kennels
produces will have a "Breeding Restriction" registration,
that is offered to us through NAVHDA. This means that when you receive your pup from Aspen Ridge our names will still
be on the registration, once you pass a NAVHDA Natural Ability Test prior
to 16 months of age, with a minimum of 100 points or obtain a NAVHDA Prize
2 Utility we will take off the "Breeding Restriction" you will
then receive a new registration for your companion with your name solely on it.
These question will help assist
us in placing the right puppy into the right home We do require our families to sign a "contract", while we don't like
doing this, our hope is, it will insure a wonderful life of every Aspen Ridge Braque du Bourbonnais puppy that we place in
a home. Some of the items that are in the contract are, but not limited to the following:
- If for any reason you are unable to keep your puppy/dog it will be return with it's registration papers to Aspen
Ridge Kennels.
- That your puppy will not be kept in a kennel outside, we feel because
of the Braque du Bourbonnais soft nature we feel they will not do well in that type of environment.

Our puppies sell for $800.00 (US Funds) since we place our puppies in homes on a "first come, first served"
basis we require a $200.00 deposit (which is included in the $800.00 selling price). The balance must be paid prior to the
ship or pick up date (more details are in the contract). We will be refund the deposit if we cannot deliver the desired puppy
or move you up the list for the next litter depending on your wishes. There may be other circumstance's that the deposit
will be returned, however, this will be handled on a case by case basis.
When
sending in your deposit, please down load and print the "Puppy Contract" below and send
in with your deposit. We will send you a copy back with our signature.
There are additional costs: airline transportation and crate, which normally runs about $200.00
depending on the air carrier, that we use. You are welcome to come to our home and pick your puppy up, airlines allow you
to take a puppy on board with you as long as it is kept in a soft sided crate that can fit under the seat.
Our litters will be registered with: NAVHDA, F.C.I,
the largest international registry, you will also be able to register your puppy with the Field Stud Book if you would like
to do NSTRA Trials.
We want to have an on
going relationship with you and your new puppy. If at any time you have a question, concern or need help training. We will
never be too busy to help answer any question or give advice.
